SOLD — ANTIQUE – VICTORIAN CORNISH PINE FARMHOUSE TABLE — SOLD
£895.00
This sturdy well made traditional Cornish, mid-Victorian pine farmhouse table, has a four plank top, three of the planks being 10½ in. wide, both end cleats fixed to the planks with eight steel hand forged rods. The base having square slightly tapering legs, have pegged “H” joints securing the frieze rails, with the side rails running through the “H” joints, to form a four inch s-shaped overhang support. One restored long drawer with its two polished knobs has had both of the extremely worn drawer runners retained and running smoothly by letting in two pine fillets. We removed this table from a barn near Flushing, Cornwall some years ago, after first purchasing its later Victorian replacement from the old farmhouse. After the extensive restoration we finally waxed the top and repainted the base with “Farrow & Ball’s” French Grey, covering most of the old various colours, the first base colour painted around 1870 was brown, the colour of the soil, fit for a Cornish farmer!? Shows evidence of old woodworm, treated.
69¼ in. long; 30¼ in. high; 37 in. deep
