4 Poster Beds
Antique 4 poster beds first appeared in Europe in the 15th century appearing later in England around the 16th century (Elizabethan Period).
Made of oak with the emphasis on ornate carving, these massive pieces of furniture could be found in castles, large Stately Homes and Manor Houses through-out the British Isles.
Prior to these antique 4 poster beds were tester beds, hanging cords in place of posts, supporting curtains on a wooden framework.
We like and tend to sell 19th century antique 4 poster beds, especially the old colonial antique 4 poster beds made of teak or sissoo wood.
